Decipher
Privacy Policy
Decipher collects as little about you as a website can.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you. Decipher has no accounts, no comments, no ad trackers and no tracking cookies.
Like every website, ours is served by a hosting company: Cloudflare. Its servers see your IP address and the page you asked for, in order to send it to you, and keep short-term logs to protect the site from attacks. Cloudflare’s privacy policy is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn’t follow you to other sites. It tells us how many people read a page, not who they are.
What your browser remembers
If you choose light or dark mode, your browser remembers that choice for next time. It’s stored in your browser, never sent to us, and clearing the site’s data removes it. A couple of small effects remember, until you close the tab, that you’ve already seen them.
Videos and podcasts
Episode pictures are loaded from YouTube. Videos play in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode and only load when you press play. Podcast audio streams from our podcast host when you press play. Once you play something, that company’s own privacy policy applies.
Newsletter
If you sign up for the newsletter, your email address is held by our newsletter provider and used only to send it. Every issue has a link to unsubscribe.
