The story so far

Salt Typhoon is the Chinese state-sponsored espionage group that broke into more than eight US telecom companies. In August 2025, the NSA and partner agencies tied it to three China-based companies that work for China’s Ministry of State Security and People’s Liberation Army. Months later, lawmakers and officials were still debating how to defend the country’s telecom networks.
